Ownership of the Collection
The entire content of the Manahan-Phelps-McCulloch Photographic collection is of valuable historic nature.
All photographic material of the Collection, including the images, image carriers, and websites (hereafter *.hillsboroughhistory.org) are the property of the Hillsborough Historical Society. All rights are retained by the Society.
Single-use copies are made for personal fair use. Any other copies are prohibited.
Any other use of these images is prohibited without prior written permission.
The Hillsborough Historical Society is the sole owner of the photographic images in the collection. The only authorized outlet for prints and other material from the Collection is directly from the Society or its authorized distribution outlet (SmugMug). Any unauthorized publication or sale of these prints or other material from the Collection is a violation of the “Fair Use” provision of Federal copyright statutes. All income received by the Society from the sale of prints or other material from the Collection supports the work of the Society. The Society receives no income or benefits from the unauthorized sale or distribution of prints or other material.
The society welcomes inquiries for use of images in publications. Permission fees are applicable. Permissions must be obtained before any publication in any format printed or electronic.
The contents of our websites including all images, text, sound, video, and other electronic representations may be reproduced for educational purposes under the doctrine of fair use. The Hillsborough Historical Society encourages the broadest possible access to and utilization of the collections it holds in the public trust. Reproduction for purposes other than fair use or for other than educational purposes is permitted only with the Society's written permission.
The images are protected by Copyright © and permission should be received prior to any prohibited reproduction, storage in a retrieval system, or transmission in any form or by any means, electronic, mechanical, photocopying, recording, or otherwise.
